Hanson Hall is designed to provide state-of-the-art acoustically rated ADA accessible practice rooms, teaching studio facilities and functional gathering areas for North Park University's School of Music. This design incorporates security measures meant to create a welcoming environment that is also safe and secure. Hanson Hall's security design includes electronic locking and monitoring systems as well as security cameras.

The intent of the security design within Hanson Hall is to allow general unrestricted access to common spaces during designated time periods while securing all other areas with the campus' access control system (Salto). Valid North Park ID's are required to access all doors within Hanson Hall, including those of classrooms, practice rooms, faculty studios, and instrument storage areas.

Hanson Hall's security design employs an extensive use of security cameras, locally audible networked alarms, and a physical security presence. The building has 15 networked cameras. These cameras cover all access points, hallways, and gathering areas in the building.
