Login issues with external system

Moodlerooms, Orgsync, and Pharos are having login problems this AM.

Moodlerooms will allow you to log on, it will just take 4 minutes.

Orgsync and Pharos will not allow logins at all.

We are working on the issue

This is a good article discussing how people are tricked into giving up their information, and how to protect yourself.

North Park University has decided to provide Microsoft Office to every student free of charge. Your Office 365 account (same as your email) includes the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more. As long as you’re a student here (and we continue to offer this program), you’ll be able to use this software for free.

  • Install Office on up to 5 compatible PCs and Macs, plus 5 tablets (including iPad!)

  • Use with your OneDrive storage for automatic device syncing

  • Gain valuable skills on the world’s most popular productivity software

  • Use the same programs as the faculty to ensure easy file sharing.

To get your Office follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit Office.com/GetOffice365

  2. Click through to download & sign in with your credentials

  3. On the download site, select your language and click install

You will need your school email account to sign in. If you have trouble, contact

Just a friendly reminder that IT doesn't stock toner or paper for campus printers.

If you're a print manager on campus, please be sure to have extra toner and paper for the end of semester!

Instructions for toner ordering can be found on the Print Managers page.

Also, please do not send spend/used toner cartridges to IT any longer.

All new toner cartridges should come with a return label. If not, see the Print Managers page for additional instructions.

Please print responsibly and let me know if you have additional questions/concerns.

Thanks!

This Winter the IT Department has been working very hard to bring you the best email support and service.

Several things have already changed and I'm sure most have noticed some of the major adjustments:

  1. Migration to Microsoft's O365 email service
  2. Federation with North Park's in-house management & email solutions.
  3. Initiating the use of username@northpark.edu for all Students, Faculty, & Staff email addresses.

Logging into your email

Student email can be accessed via the link provided at My North Park.

March 18, 2014

On MARCH 18, 2014 students will STOP using email login: username@vikings.northpark.edu

And begin using email login: username@northpark.edu at O365.

Both email addresses should be able to receive email to the same inbox.

The username@vikings.northpark.edu address will still receive email after the transition.

If you need to change your password use the Account Management page, or see the wiki article on Password Reset.

While it can certainly be confusing to have two addresses for one inbox, this transition will help the campus communicate much better!

Not only does this adjustment shorten the student email address, but it is adding several new features and benefits.

Toner Recycle

North Park's print service manager, COTG, have been working with their toner recycling organization to help streamline the process of discarding spent cartridges.

While before, we relied on individual departments to print return labels for the mail, these labels will now be included in the box with the replacement cartridge.

I hope this cuts down on the time it takes to keep our printers up and running!

On the off chance, you have a spent toner cartridge without a return label, please send it to IT Client Services via campus mail at Box # 31 and we can sort it out.

For complete instructions on ordering, recycling, and service, please click here: Print Managers.

Toner Recycling

Hello Print Managers!

Generally we print shipping labels to mail back our spent toner cartridges.

The site that prints these labels has recently made a lot of changes.

We are working with them and with our print management team to sort it out.

If you have labels, feel free to use them, but you won’t be able to print more at the moment.

Ordering toner and other supplies is still the same!

No change there!

Let me know if there are any pressing questions!

Thanks!

Apple Enforces Adobe Flash Player Security Upgrade with Updated Malware Definitions - Mac Rumors

http://www.macrumors.com/2014/02/05/apple-enforces-flash-upgrade/

Adobe came out with a "critical" update for Flash (Windows and Mac) yesterday, and Apple has begun blocking previous versions with their malware blocker.  Marc is updating to the new version and will hopefully be able to start pushing it out today.  Just FYI in case you get any reports of people being blocked from using Flash.  If someone is blocked, and hasn't received the new version from us yet, they can manually update by going to "System Preferences" -> "Flash Player" -> "Advanced" -> "Check Now".
