VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows you to access campus-only services while working remotely.

Employees must request and be granted access prior to installing or connecting to the VPN.

The VPN client should only be installed on your University laptop. It is prohibited on personal devices.


Accessing

Portal Address

  1. The first time you connect, you will be prompted for a portal address:
    1. Portal Address: access.northpark.edu
  2. Select Connect
  3. When prompted, authenticate using your University username (not email) and password

Connecting

  1. Launch the Global Connect agent, either in your task bar or applications menu.
    1. The client should remember the Portal Address. If not, enter access.northpark.edu
  2. If prompted, authenticate using your University username (not email) and password.
  3. Select Connect.
  4. You will see an icon  in the top menu (Mac) or tray (Windows) indicating that the VPN is connected.

Disconnecting

Please disconnect from the VPN when you do not need access to campus resources.

  1. Click the Global connect icon  in the top menu (Mac) or tray (Windows), or open the program from your application menu.
  2. Select Disconnect

Availability & Installation

The VPN client should only be installed on your University laptop. It is prohibited on personal devices.

Newer University Windows computers will have the Global Protect VPN Client installed automatically or available from the Company Portal

University Legacy Windows 10 computers and Apple computers will need to install the client here:

  1. Go to https://access.northpark.edu and enter your North Park credentials in the Login panel.
  2. Select the appropriate download for your operating system.
    1. University Windows computers 64 bit
  3. Open/Run the installation file and follow the prompts to complete installation.
  4. After installation, launch the Global Protect application

Initialize VPN Off-Campus

Connection to North Park's VPN can only be initiated from off campus. The VPN will not connect from on the campus network.

Please note that on campus, even after the client is installed, you will NOT be able to test the connection.
