New Adjunct Instructors

The Human Resources Department extends a warm welcome to you from North Park University. As a new adjunct instructor, we will guide you in the initial steps of getting ready to teach courses at NPU. The following steps explain important information for part-time employees. Take a few moments and read through the summary of the corresponding attachments.   1. Background Check
    Your hire is contingent on a satisfactory background check. A separate email will be sent to you from IntelliCorp, our background screening company. Please follow the link and complete the form ASAP. The link is only good for 5 days from when it was sent.

  2. HR Personnel Paperwork
    This is a very important step in the process as we will not be able to issue you a contract, give you access to your course or set you up in payroll until all of these forms are completed. If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office.
  3. Employee Handbook
    Our Employee Handbook is designed to be a useful guide to help you understand key policies as well as your privileges and obligations as a North Park Employee. The handbook is not intended to create a contract of employment nor is it an all-inclusive description of all policies, procedures, and benefits program. North park may from time to time amend, delete, or supplement any of its policies and procedures. When possible reasonable notice will be given of changes to policies, procedures, or benefit programs, but failure to give notice will not affect the validity of the change.  Employment is at the will of the employee and North Park University.  This means that you may quit at any time with or without notice and North Park University may terminate your employment at any time with or without notice. There is no promise that employment will continue for a set period of time, nor is there any promise that your employment will be terminate only under particular circumstances. No one has the authority to make representations inconsistent with this policy. The current published handbook supersedes any and all other oral, written, or implied provisions, descriptions, or understanding of North Park’s policies, rules, procedures, or benefits, except as specifically indicated in the handbook. 


  4. Setting Up Your Username and Password
    Once we receive and process your personnel paperwork and background check, an employee ID number will be issued to you. You will receive this ID number to your personal email address that you provided to us. You will need this ID number to set up your NPU email address. 
    To set up a password for your NPU email account, go to Account Management and then click on the link for Account Management. Then you will be asked to enter your employee ID number to begin. It will take you through some identification steps then will allow you to set up your password. This site will also provide you with your user name and email address. Please contact IT through our HelpDesk system if you have any issues with this process. 
    After you set up your username and password, you will be able to log into your NPU email address here

  5. Getting a Faculty ID Card
    North Park University issues identification cards to all students, faculty, and staff. You are required to carry your ID card with you when you are on campus. It will serve as your access card to many places and resources such as Helwig Recreation Center, Brandel Library, and, copiers across campus. Please visit our Campus Safety Center to acquire your Employee ID Card. 

  6. Pay Schedule
    Adjuncts are paid on a biweekly basis (every other Friday). The dates of your payments depend on the dates of the course you are teaching. To view your the dates the payments for your course will be distributed to you, please refer to our payroll dates and then match up the dates of your course with the payroll period end and start dates.

  7. Parking
    Parking is provided to you with a purchase of a valid parking permit. The permit is valid at designated faculty and staff parking lots.  Each car is required to display a permit and is effective Sep 1 – Aug 31 of every academic year. It is important to view the Parking Regulations site for information about our parking policies, campus parking maps and instructions on permit purchasing. ALL parking permits are sold exclusively online. All purchased parking permits will be available for pickup at Student Administrative Services during regular business hours.     Note: This process is available to the employee ONLY after we have received the required employment documents. 

  8. Safe Community
    We are committed to the safety and well-being of students, faculty and staff. North Park is prepared to communicate with students and other constituents through a variety of channels in the event of an emergency.   10. KNOWBE4 SECURITY AWARENESS TRAINING:

    Information security is vitally important to North Park University as we seek to protect the data entrusted to us by students, employees, alumni, and donors.

    To help us all build information security awareness, North Park has partnered with KnowBe4 to provide a program of training videos and simulated phishing training.  Through KnowBe4's short, informative videos, we will all learn about data security, phishing, and other risks, and we will assess our progress with simulated phishing emails.

    Employees are required to complete regular training courses and will receive email alerts from Information Technology and Human Resources about upcoming and overdue training modules.
